Sodium Nitrate – another preservative and coloring found in hot dogs, ham, bacon, luncheon meat and corned beef. Various types of cancer are linked to this ingredient. BHA and BHT – this is used to preserve household foods like potato chips, cereals, vegetable oils and chewing gum.
Momosodium Glutamate – we all know as MSG, it is a flavor enhancer found in salad dressings, frozen entrees and restaurant foods. It can cause nausea and headaches. Trans Fats – Fast food chains and restaurant food, are too many times served with trans fats. Aspartame – aka, Equal and NutraSweet, artificial sweetener found in many foods and drinks. Acesulfame-K – new artificial sweetener found in baked goods, gelatin desserts and chewing gum.
The food colorings called : Blue 1, 2; Red 3; Green 3; Yellow 6- Blue 1 & 2 are in many pet foods, candy bars and soda beverages, Red 3 is used to dye cherries, fruit cocktail and candy. Green 3 food coloring is again in candy, beverages and linked to bladder cancer. Yellow 6 is widely used in sausages, baked goods, gelatin and candy and linked to tumors of the kidney and adrenal gland.
